Meet Our Staff
Devika has been training in dance for over 20 years with a background in Hip Hop, Bollywood, and Indian Classical. She trained in Bharatnatyam at the Triveni School of Dance under the instruction of Smt. Neena Gulati for 11 years. In college, she was a dancer on, and later captain of, Boston University Chankaar, the university’s premiere South Asian dance troupe. Post-graduation, she trained and performed with the Urban Connection Dance Company in Boston. As the founder and director of DFD, her goal is to increase access to dance training in South Asian fusion styles through a formalized, yet personal, training approach and ultimately help students engage with and embrace their identity within the Indo-American diaspora.
Founder / Director
Prerana is an experienced dancer and performer in Indian Classical and Folk dance styles. She began her journey in dance at the age of five learning Bharatanatyam at the Eastern Rhythms School of Dance under the guidance of Smt. Ranjani Saigal. While training in Bharatanatyam, she learned ballet for 3 years at the Planet Dance Studio. While continuing her passion for dance, Prerana currently works in and is pursuing her master's in the field of data science.
Anushka has been dancing since the age of 4. She is a classically trained Bharatnatyam dancer, trained by Jasmine Shah of Aangikam Dance Academy, and during her senior year of high school, completed her Nritya Nipuna. Aside from Bharatnatyam, Anushka has always been fond of Bollywood, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Bhangra, Garba, and shuffling dance styles, and has trained in these styles for over 15 years. Anushka is currently a member of a competitive all girls dance team, NU Rangila, at Northeastern University. She is passionate about discovering and learning new styles of dance and loves to share them with others. Aside from dance, Anushka loves working with children and is currently working in the Early Childhood Education field. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at Suffolk University, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Women’s Gender Studies.
Rashi has been passionate about dancing and performing on stage since pre-school. She’s had 8 years of training in Kathak, as well as experience in Raas, Hip Hop, and Bollywood Fusion. Most recently, she was a part of Boston University’s competitive Bhangra team, BU Bhangra, where she had the opportunity to share her love for dance with her peers on and off stage. Apart from dance, she has also performed at Bangalore's (India) highly reputed adaptations of Broadway musicals arranged by the Music Theater International (New York) at Bethany High. While she continues to keep dancing, she is doing research related to cancer biology post-graduation and aspires to contribute to new developments in healthcare.

Pari has been dancing since she was five years old starting with Bollywood dances at family weddings and events. Throughout the years, dance was always a part of her schedule as a routine. In grade school, she competed in Fogana – a Garba competition in the New England area and danced on a Hip Hop/ Step team for four years in high school and college. Pari also joined and captained a Garba/Raas team while in college. While continuing her passion for dance, Pari currently works in non-profit consulting and online media.

Head of Operations
Sneha has been dancing since the age of five. She learned Bharthanatym for 5 years but was always more fond of Bollywood. She was a student of Amulya Deepak and Nikita’s Bollywood Dance Academy before beginning her training with DFD. During her time as a student at DFD, she learned the importance of precision and presentation, but her most important learning was that of teamwork. Sneha grew to be a positive role model for her peers, earning a scholarship from DFD in her final year. Now, she is a student at the University of Connecticut studying computer science and is part of their competitive Bollywood fusion dance team, UConn Surya.
Raga has been an avid dancer for the last 16 years. She started dancing Bharatanatyam at the age of 8 under Guru Smt. Kripa Baskaran and her grandmother Guru Smt. Revathi Narasimhan. She has won several competitions and performed all over the US and India. She went on to compete with Wisconsin Surma, a Bollywood Fusion team, and was captain and lead through the years. She is currently an active member of Ministry of Bhangra, a Chicago-based Bhangra team, and WatchList DanceCo, an independent Hip Hop team. Outside of dance, Raga works at a digital marketing agency.
